What it takes to change your life

 

 

 

I have been thinking a lot lately about what it takes to really change your life.

 

To get a different result.

 

We often think changing our life is about getting something new; more knowledge, more money, more time.

 

I thought this, I was in the energy of “want” from a place of “lack” for a long time and it kept me stuck.

 

I learned, it has more to do with what you let go of, over what you obtain.

 

We learn this in yoga, our attachments are our own prison. But instead of attachments to outcomes or objects,  have you ever thought about those underlying beliefs you are attached to?

 

Thoughts like “money is hard to make” or “finding a good partner these days is impossible”, “people don’t change”, “they are lucky to have that life”, “I could never put myself out there like that”.

 

These attachments are strong, and challenging to let go of. Not to mention sneaky ninja, where the hell did you come from, I didn’t even see you there, thoughts.

 

As long as we hold on to these limiting thoughts, we cannot hold on to other expansive ones.

 

It’s not your fault, some of these thoughts don’t even belong to you. You took them from your family or what society has told you (on purpose).

 

If you want something new, you need to let go of something old.

 

I have spent a lot of time rewiring my brain. And I’m not just talking about peace from my yoga practice - but targeted reprogramming of my belief systems that were keeping me “stuck”, ugh I mean “safe”.

 

You can do this. Our brains are beautiful, powerful, amazing things that send our thoughts out as vibrations that magnetize what we think back to us.

 

So if you think it, you will see proof of it.

 

If you want to see something else, you need to start believing it.

 

Sounds simple enough - But it’s not simple.

 

This takes active work, journaling, coaching, inspiration, all of it.

 

Once I did that, things started to change fast. Like magic.

 

One place to start is to watch when those limiting thoughts come up. Take a belief you have that allows you to checkout, and ask yourself why you feel that way. And then, ask yourself “Why” five (5) more times. See what happens. If you are still unsure - I got you!
